  Saudi Clothing and Traditional Dresses Saudi Arabia has a rich culture, and clothing is an important part of it. Traditional clothing is often modest, elegant, and connected to the country’s history and climate. For Men: Thobe (or Thawb):  A long white robe usually worn in daily life. Shemagh or Ghutra:  A head covering, often red-and-white checked (shemagh) or plain white (ghutra), held in place with a black cord called  Iqal . In winter, men may wear a cloak called  Bisht , usually for special occasions. For Women: Abaya:  A long black cloak worn over clothes, often decorated with embroidery. Hijab or Shayla:  A headscarf that covers the hair. In traditional occasions, women may wear colorful dresses with gold embroidery, like the  Thobe Al-Nashal in the Hijaz region or  Al-Darraa  in Najd.
